Our Story
The Journey that Takes Us to Today
Tai Chi & Qi Gong for Health began with founder Chunmei Yang, whose lifelong curiosity for healing grew from her childhood in rural China.
Taught Gua Sha and Cupping by village elders, she learned early that wellness comes from balance. Her professional life began as a high school teacher in China before moving to Australia in the 1990s, where she completed a Bachelor of Business and Finance and an MBA degree.
After years in Australia’s fast-paced corporate world, a search for peace and the true meaning of a balanced life after the passing of her father led her back to her roots and to Tai Chi. In Brisbane, she discovered the power of Tai Chi and Qi Gong where she learned from Master Chen the fundamentals of Tai Chi and this took her to a path of healing, mindfulness and transformation.
Today, as a qualified teacher and therapist, Chunmei blends ancient Chinese wisdom with modern wellbeing to help others restore calm, strength, and energy. What started as one woman’s journey is now a welcoming community where movement, mindfulness, and healing come together.

Founder and Owner
Chunmei Yang
Founder of Tai Chi & Qi Gong for Health, Chunmei Yang blends a lifetime of learning with a deep passion for helping others find balance and vitality. Trained in both Eastern and Western wellness practices, she’s a certified Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor, remedial massage therapist, and personal trainer. Through her gentle guidance, Chunmei helps students rediscover calm, strength, and harmony in body, mind, and spirit.

Greg Hooper
A certified Tai Chi instructor and senior trainer with the Tai Chi for Health Institute, Greg Hooper brings warmth, patience, and precision to every class. Having trained under Chunmei, he shares her belief that movement and mindfulness can transform well-being. Greg supports each student with clear instruction and genuine care, helping them grow in confidence, balance, and energy.
